Community Murals
This mural titled “La Misma Luna” was designed by Lead Artist, Asylm, working with Alex Rodriguez, and Jaime “Vyal” Reyes. All three artists painted the mural, which was located on the corner of Cesar Chavez and Breed streets in Boyle Heights in Los Angeles. This mural was inspired by the film “Under The Same Moon." This film was directed by Patricia Riggen, was written by Ligiah Villalobos, and tells the story of a young boy and his mother who have been separated by the U.S. / Mexico border. The film deals with issues of immigration, families separated across international boundaries and the connection between East LA and Mexico. These themes are echoed in the mural imagery. Much of the film was shot in Boyle Heights, and the film features several prominent murals from this neighborhood throughout the film.
